Crusty Homemade Bread

Now that I have an oven at home I've been baking like crazy. Some days we literally eat only freshly baked bread and nothing else. It turns out making bread can be super easy so I don't think we are ever buying bread in a store again.

I've come up with three basic no-knead recipes. No elbow grease or bread machine necessary, you just have to let the dough rise for 12-17 hours. Prepare it the night before and bake it in the morning for breakfast or brunch.

  1. Place all ingredients except yeast and water in a medium size bowl and mix together.
  2. Mix in the yeast.
  3. Add water and combine everything together. The dough will be pretty sticky. Dust with a bit of flour and create a ball from the dough using your hands.
  4. Leave the dough in the bowl and cover it with a plastic wrap and a kitchen towel. Leave it in a warm place for 12 - 17 hours to rise.
  5. After 12 -17 hours you will have a very sticky dough. Dust the surface with flour and scrape out the dough with a dough scraper or wooden spoon.
  6. Dust the dough with flour and gently form a loaf shape. Try not to knock out all the air created by the yeast.
  7. Place on a baking pan lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes at 200 °C.
